Orient Television re launched the news in its new programs cycle. The news is light and not very political, so we wanted to show that in the promos. We tried to stay away from all the clichés used in usual news promos, so we went for something more original and risky!
Our aim was to shock the viewer to show the side effects of watching the daily news that is full of blood and violence,which is the content of news on most Arabic news channels. Our message was that our news delivers what is familiar, relevant and close to the needs of Arab families. We weren't really aiming for the kind of promos people would like.Our concern was to deliver the point about the unhealthy relation between the Arab viewers and news, because our viewer is a smart viewer with smart choices. We also wanted our viewers to know that our news is back, in a very controversial way that will definitely drag their attention.
We were shocked with how fast the promos were noticed and well received, and the buzz reached newspapers!
